Introducing: Strengths Topologies

I've been exploring something I call "Strengths Topology" - This is an AI-backed model of a person's strengths, values and their interrelationships. At the moment, it's based off of the Gallop StrengthsFinder system but quickly goes into new territory.

This is an example of the strengths topology approach to understanding a typical software engineer - every individual will have a different mix, unique circumstances and long term goals. This model can be used to have individualized conversations or part of an approach for team growth

FYI: everything on here, from the descriptors, to the interconnections and color choices, are coming from ChatGPT

Notice this shows a few interacting subsystems: - A cycle of synthesizing new information on the right; what you could view as Introverted Thinking in the MBTI

  • Achievement through Focus, and a desire for depth (problems big enough to keep their attention)

  • The main nest of strengths is related to the engineers approach to work: analytic and strategic, with deliberate problem solving.

Dig in deeper and you might see why certain values and conflicts exist within software engineers and their teams. A distaste for quick hacks (which is tactical, rather than strategic), a frustration with maintenance work (which cuts off the learning cycle) and so on

I've actually been exploring this with the Harry Potter dialog dataset - so sit tight for some future fun posts that capture the evolution of characters over the book series.
